Urgent Care Needs

  • During office hours, call 633-4IHP (4447) for advice on what to do.
  • After office hours, call 633-4IHP (4447) and your call will be forwarded to the physician on call, who will call you as soon as possible.

Emergency Care Needs
In the event of a medical emergency, call 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency room.  Should you require hospitalization, IHP has a working relationship with the hospital-based physician, who will coordinate your care along with the nurses and specialists in the hospital.  The information regarding your hospitalization will be reviewed by your IHP physician and will be incorporated into your private IHP medical records.

Telephone Inquiries
Specific medical questions may be called in during office hours.  If we are busy with patients, please leave a clear, detailed message.  A medical staff member or your physician will return your call as soon as possible.  Please be patient with us as we are also addressing concerns of patients scheduled for an appointment that day.  While your call is important to us, the return call may occur after normal business hours.

Routine Wellness Exams
Maintaining wellness is an on-going patient-doctor effort.  While there is not a strict schedule for how often routine check-ups should occur, your physician will work with you to arrive at a schedule best suited to your general health, particular needs and age.  Please check with your insurance plan prior to calling for an appointment regarding coverage for a wellness exam.

Prescriptions and Refills
Please call for refill requests at least 3 days prior to running out of your medication.  This ensures that your doctor is able to review your medical records and make any appropriate suggestions.

When calling for refill requests, please leave:

  • Your name and phone number,
  • Name, dose and directions for taking this medication,
  • Pharmacy name and location where you want the prescription refilled

Laboratory Work and Diagnostics

Your physician may order blood tests, x-rays or other necessary tests.  Test results will be communicated to you at your follow-up visit.  If tests indicate the need for immediate attention, an IHP representative will call you.  If you do not hear from us, but are concerned, you may call our office for your test results.

Medicare Annual Exam Checklist
Beginning January 1, 2011, Medicare covers an “Annual Wellness Visit” in addition to the one-time “Welcome to Medicare” exam. The “Welcome to Medicare” exam occurs only once during your first 12 months as a Medicare patient. You may receive your Annual Wellness Visit after you have been with Medicare for more than one year, or it has been at least one year since your “Welcome to Medicare” exam.
